The Prince of New York - Welcome to Josh Land!!

Joshua Land is known throughout the MySpace world as the Prince of New York. If you don't believe me, just ask his many (lovely) fans!! Come and see how talent and imagination can capture beauty forever!

Josh, your drawings and animations are incredible! Tell us about when you first discovered your artistic talent.

I started drawing way back when I was in Pre-K. With the curvy trees with the bushy top. Around that time I became fond of drawing. How did you develop your artistic style?

I wasn’t trained into drawing. Nor did I learn. It was more of a God-given talent. On another note my sister, mother and uncle all draw. And my father and grandfather were professional photographers. So art pretty much ran in my family.

Other than drawing and animation, what other types of creative expression do you enjoy?

Other than those two, I’m great in photography. Also I like to do voice acting.

Your drawings are incredibly detailed and life-like. Tell us about the process you go through to create these pieces?

I first look at the original picture to look for any problems I might have drawing. I start with the face and build the structure of the body. Then with the hair. I usually alternate in different areas, so I don’t stay with one section of the drawing.

The drawings on your website are all of people. Do you prefer human subjects to objects or landscapes? If so, why?

Odd thing for me is that I rarely draw landscapes. But with my photography, I rarely shoot humans. I can’t receive praise from a building. But in photography a building doesn’t complaint. Ha ha.

Do you have any major collections, animation projects, appearances, exhibitions or other major events that you’d like to tell us about?

I have a couple of trophies dealing with art. One of them if the National Department of Labor Video Contest. I won the 1st prize for that. The piece was an animation I have created for fun. It took about 2 months. The next, I received a gold medal for. Myself and my other senior classmates from my high school created a tribute video in the winter for the policemen and firefighters after the 9/11 tragedy.

You seem to have a knack for finding beautiful subjects for your work. What’s your secret?

Well they ask me. Lol Most of them are birthday presents. It’s rare to receive a portrait drawing of yourself as a gift. Mostly it shocks the person.

Who’s your favorite model and why?

I would have to go with Tila Nguyen. What she has done to the Internet world is amazing. That and she’s hot. Ha ha.
You appear to have a genuine love and appreciation for diverse cultures and languages. Where did you gain your love for different cultures?

I think most of my leeway comes from my artwork and martial arts. Most martial arts originated from Asian countries. I’ve been interested in that for almost 12 years. Also some major countries such as

Japan

China

, and

Korea

are big with animation, movies and comics. With my committed life of art, I started to become involved with the languages. So far I’m learning 8 of them.

How do you feel about where you are in your career?

I can’t even say I’m in a career at the moment. At this moment, I so graphic design on low end. But mainly I do printing.

How did that make you feel?

I don’t feel too bad about it. I’m using this as a learning experience in printing. But eventually I’ll be working on my very own online business.

What is a normal day like for you?

I wake up. Check mail. Go to work. Come home. Check MySpace. Sleep. Lol Very exciting life I have. Ha ha.

Where do you work?

I work at the printing center for Office Max.

Do you have any children, any pets?

I don’t plan on having children until I’m at least 25. I have too much to accomplish first. I have 2 parakeets: Trixie and Pixie. And then there’s a dog named Charlie. But I always call him Chaplin. Hence Charlie Chaplin.

What other interests and hobbies do you enjoy?

I usually surf the web, MySpace, watch movies and play video games. Martial arts are a big part of me as well. The sports I enjoy are tennis, basketball and soccer.

Tell us more about you - what would you like the world to know about you? I want people to know that I officially am not shy. If I was, I would not be in retail and have over 89 thousand MySpace friends. Lol Most of the time, I just don’t feel like talking. I get to it. Ha ha.

What is your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal is to be a successful CEO of my own animation company.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why?

I would want to visit Thailand. There’s a very special person I would want to meet. Also I always wanted to see an authentic Muay Thai fight. :]

Who are your favorite famous artists? What do you like about them?

I rarely follow artists. I usually like artists that revolutionize artwork. Such as Todd McFarlane, Stan Lee, and Hayao Miyazaki.

What was your most embarrassing moment as an artist?

I don’t think I have an embarrassing moment really. If there were one, I probably mentally blocked it from myself.

What was your proudest moment as an artist?

My proudest moment was when I was named the top ranked artist in my high school.

What do you think is your best feature?

Let me exclude my art talent and say my sense of humor. I have a unique form of humor. Many people will not understand my joke. But I like the people who do. I’m not one of the knock knock joke people. I actually never use jokes. I create jokes out of nowhere. Usually from context.

How do your family and friends feel about your career as an artist?

They are definitely rooting for me. I’m on the verge of creating a legacy. I personally don’t know many African American artists.

The Ladies want to know! Are you married, in a relationship, or single?

I’m 50% single. I’m currently committed with someone. We met on MySpace over 2 years ago. My single status goes to 0% once we meet each other. I’ll ask her definitely once we meet. :]

If you are in a committed relationship, tell us about your girlfriend.

She’s a very sweet, funny, intelligent and beautiful woman. She is from

Thailand

. Her major is programming. Wow I hate programming. Lol I can handle it. She’s just as busy as me these days. We rarely have time for contact. But our love is there.

What does Josh Land look for in a woman?

First I make sure the person is a woman. Ha ha. I’m a sucker for cute faces and petite structure. Sincerity and kindness is very appealing to me. I fall for girls that have a great since of humor and confidence with themselves.

What is the most important thing in your life right now?

GOD anytime in my life

Have you ever been in love?

Been? I still am in love.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is sex in a relationship?

I wouldn’t know personally so I’ll say 5. Lol I’m currently sacred. I’m like Adriana Lima.

What is the sexiest thing about men?

We don’t have to wear make-up. Well at least some of us don’t.

What is the sexiest thing about women?

From my point of view, the complete package. If it‘s the right combination, that can be very sexy.

Tell us something about yourself that the world would be surprised to know? I think many will be surprised that I am 1/4^th Asian. Both my great grandmothers are pure Indian.
