Ms. LeShay - tell us about how you got into modeling. Modeling has always been a passion of mines. I first began to pursue modeling around the age of 14. I would always hear of these model casting calls on the radio but unfortunately many of them were scams. However with persistence and endurance I finally began to work with people who were beneficial to my career. How old were you when this happened? I was around 14 years old. What was your first shoot like?
My
first shoot was very cool and fun. I practiced in the mirror a lot so it was
very natural to me once I got in front of the What's it like living and growing up in Logansport, Louisiana? Well, growing up in Logansport was pretty hard, because there were not many opportunities there and not much to do. That's what led me to move to New Orleans once I graduated High School. So I could pursue my career and get a better education. In high school were you considered the ugly duckling or were you always beautiful? Actually, people considered me to be pretty once I was in high school - but before that I was the ugly duckling. Tell us about a time when you felt like giving up on modeling? Giving up are two words that have never been in my vocabulary. How did you get to be so tough and determined? The way I was raised and the environment that I was raised in taught me to be tough and how to deal with painful situations in a productive manner; so when I do experience tough times I don't freak out - I just deal with it and make the best of the situation. Love v/s passion what's your stance or are they the same thing? I believe love and passion are words that could be interchangeable or mean the same thing. Because when you truly love or have a passion for something, someone, or doing something; one would do it unconditionally. Since beauty is only skin deep, what best describes you as a person?
Do you fall into the cliché - look good, but dumb as rocks. Not at all, education, knowledge, and growth are all very important to me. I'm always striving to grow in those areas. I am also currently a senior at the University of New Orleans and will have a degree in Finance this fall. When going to clubs do you buy your own drinks? Hell naw! How long have you been rapping? It's going on three years now. Of all the songs on your MySpace player, which one is your personal favorite?
My personal favorite that I have on MySpace is "Get Paid".
What's
special about that song? I like this song because I definitely represented for the ladies, and just showing love to them by letting they know that no matter what people say, just do your thang, be happy, get money so you can depend on yourself and just enjoy life. I like your song "Money Ova Niggas" the best! Tell me what motivated you to create this song? Thanks, I appreciate that; but what inspired me to write that song was because I kept coming across many women who had thier priorities out of order. Like putting men in their lives first by taking care of them - while those men were not putting them first. Or it would be situations where some women were so dependent on dudes financially that even if they wanted to leave they felt trapped in because they needed money. So I thought of the song "Money Ova Niggas" and I was just speaking from a boss chick and independent mind set just to show women that it's cool to take care of self first - so they won't have to struggle and depend on anyone. Your newest song, "Get Paid", is just straight funky and gangsta! Who wrote and produced this track? I wrote the song and it was produced by Blaq N Mild out of New Orleans. What's happening next for you musically? Right now I am currently working on my mixtape and album so be on the look out real soon because I am about to change the game. Let's talk about New Orleans - what is it like living there since Hurricane Katrina? There is a big difference from what how the city was before Katrina compared to how it is now because a lot of places did not open back up and there are still many vacant communities.
To each their own but I could definitely understand why because it is hard to start over if you lost everything and there is always the chance that it could happen again. What is your ultimate goal for your modeling career? My ultimate goal is to be a household name. I want to be known all over the world. The men (and some of the ladies) want to know! Are you married, single, or in a relationship? I am so single. If you're single, tell us what type of man (or woman) Ms. LeShay is looking for? Well, I'm not really looking for anyone to be honest. I don't believe it is something that a woman has to look for - it is just something that happens. So if it happens, I am definitely prepared for it. But the types of men I like are attractive, driven for success, loving, understanding, supportive, God fearing, and funny. What type of modeling do you enjoy the most (fashion photos, swimsuit, runway, sexy spreads, artistic layouts, theme shots, or other) I enjoy swimsuit, sexy spreads, theme shots and fashion etc. What advice would you give to the other models out there that are trying to make their dreams come true? Just make it happen!
