My Mother,My Grandmother
Two equal parts of my life
There can’t be one or the other

Both took the responsibilities
That my dad was supposed to take on
But they were the two that made me gifted and strong

Thank you Mom for bringing me into this Earth
By showing me the importance of caring and joy
All the late nights you worked and had to hustle for us to get by
Just to take care of your baby boy

Thank you Grandmother
For the teenage years when, for a second, I strayed away on my own path
You taught me forgiveness and to forgive myself through God’s eyes
Before it would be to let and I will be forced to feel his wrath

I may not have went to college like I wanted
But life is something from me that was never deprived
Because you both gave me the tools I needed
In this world for me to stay alive
You two are my parents. No doubt
And without y’all, I would have never discovered
The importance of love, the importance of life
Thank you Mother, thank you Grandmother
