Welcome to the world of The Dubber!! This "Original Rockstar " has criss-crossed the nation blessing the world with his uniqueness and creativity!!
Tell us where you're from and where you live. I was born and raised in Washington, DC, but I now reside in Columbia, SC I've heard some of your music and the tracks are amazing! Tell us about when you first discovered your talent for music. As long as I can remember I was creating music. But my most vivid moment early on was, banging on Moms pots and pans around 3 years old. I've come along way !!! LOL How did you develop your unique artistic style?
Of the music posted on your website http://www.thedubber.com/ , which one has elicited the strongest reactions from your fans? With no doubt it's "Original Rockstar, Baby " !!! Why do you think that song has had that type of impact? Maybe because I write it as a introduction to THE Dubber or maybe because it was the first song I recorded as THE Dubber which gave it that little extra sumthin' sumthun'. LOL Your music is filled deep, emotional themes - you can really feel the passion, sadness and strength in each of them. Is your music inspired by your personal experiences or the personal experiences of people around you? Both. You've been in the music biz for quite some time. How do you feel about where you are in your career? It's my time... the blessings are coming in. With one CD out and three years of touring the states under my belt. I'm started to get notice. It's all timing and staying steadfast. I see that you've experimented musically across a variety of genres. From Hip-Hop to Hard Rock - you've touched it all. Which musical genre has left the biggest imprint on your unique musical style? I'll have to say, Go Go. That DC home grown funk !!! When I tell people this most seem to scratch their heads. I listened to all kinds of music, but I grow up on Go Go. the basics to all my music is the rhythm. It has to swing !!! And, Go Go is where I got my swing. What do you enjoy most about being a musician? The music. Music is a language. Another way to communicate pure expression. From musician to musician, but more importantly from musician to the audiences. What do you hate the most about the music business? The business. LOL !!! How have your family and friends positively or negatively impacted your music and your music career? Wow... family and friends definitely let you know if this is what you are here to do. They go through the sacrifice with you. This plays in sometimes good or sometimes bad. Which give you a lot to draw from creatively for sure. If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why?
Northern Africa and The Middle East. That's where
it all began!!! I love to see how my music would fair there. Tell us about some of your friends in the music biz that we may not have heard of. Which ones would you recommend? Well... if your into Spoken Word you should check Maximum Impact. The poetry duo of Max Parthas and Tribal Raine http://www.newwordorder.com If you're in to Blues check http://www.myspace.com/riyenroots If you're in to RnB/Hip Hop check out http://www.myspace.com/illamin What was you proudest moment as a musician? Hearing my Pops says, You're playing that things now !!! LOL My father beefed with me about being a musician and playing the guitar always. He was Old School... "you need to go get a job" ,is all I would here. But after years, he finally came out to a gig and loved it !!! Tell us about a time when you felt like walking away for the music biz. How did you get through that challenging time? That's everyday !!! LOL I reminded myself, this is what I'm here to do. Tell us something about yourself that the world would be surprised to know? I'm a self taught musician. Other than making music, what other types of creative expression do you enjoy? I like to write. I'm thinking about writing a book.
